About
Captain Charlie Ives
Let me tell you a
little about myself. I grew up in the Aransas Pass, Texas area
and my favorite things to do were to hunt ducks and catch fish.
I have been on the water and running boats since I was 11 years
old. My younger brothers and I, man, that was forever ago, had a
wooden skiff and we would ride our bikes to the harbor and crank
it up - spend all day fishing. At the end of the day we'd sell
our catch so we could go do it again the next day.
Now,
I am 51 years old and have commercially fished and guided for the
last 31 years. I got my captains license in 1989 and guided
under the name of Surecatch Guide Service for a couple of years,
after that I continued to commercial fish even after house bill
1000, which took redfish and trout off the commercial market. I
fished for drum, flounder and sheepshead from San Antonio Bay to
Baffin Bay, Nueces, Copano, Carlos, Aransas and Corpus Christi Bays. I got
serious about guiding about eight years ago when saltwater
fishing became so popular. It took me about three years to build
a clientele as there are so many guides to choose from.

There are a lot of good guides down this way, that will go out
of their way to ensure you have a good time. The key perhaps is
finding one you enjoy spending time with and one that has the
experience and knowledge of the waters in this area to find the
fish.
Personally, I am very good with children. I have an 11 year old
daughter myself and have been married for 28 years. I have been
on the water near all my life. I am an outdoorsman and enjoy
fishing and introducing others to the pleasures of same. I have
enjoyed, over the years, taking my nephews and nieces fishing
and teaching them to enjoy the simple things in life. If you
book a fishing trip with me I will work hard to see to it that
you, your friends or family have a great time.
